If you are stopped by law enforcement, you must produce certain documentation. You need a valid driver’s license of course. Carry it on you at all times. In addition, you must produce valid registration for your vehicle. Be sure you know where to find it. The same is true for your proof of insurance coverage. If you cannot produce any of these documents you can be cited.

If you are found guilty of having insufficient insurance coverage, you can be fined $500 for the first violation. Second or subsequent violations can cost you $1,000 and a possible 6 month suspension.
