Frozen Gas Pedal

Your accelerator is no different from any other piece of your vehicle. It can malfunction at any time. The most common problem with a gas pedal is probably the most dangerous. After accelerating, you ease up on the pedal, but it does not spring back. That, of course, means your vehicle is still speeding up. Depending on where you are, this problem can turn deadly. Immediately get your toes under the pedal if possible and pull it back up. Depending on how far down the accelerator is stuck, you might try to activate your emergency brake. Another option is to turn off your engine. Just remember, if you do that, power brakes and power steering will not work. Avoid reaching for the accelerator pedal with your hand. You will probably lose sight of the road.
