A bit earlier, you learned about intersections being places where two or more roads converge. With controlled intersections, there are traffic control devices, lights, or signs that dictate which driver goes if multiple drivers arrive at the intersection at the same time. Even then, never assume other drivers will observe the law. Good defensive drivers make sure they know what other drivers plan to do. They make sure they have a clear path before they proceed.
With uncontrolled intersections, the decision about who has the right of way is outlined in the laws but, again, you must exercise good judgment. If you arrive at an intersection before another driver, you should have the right of way. Be sure, though, that any other driver approaching the intersection will yield. It is the law that when two drivers arrive at an intersection at the same time, the driver on the left will yield to the driver on the right. This is true regardless of the type of intersection you enter.
