Window Tinting

While not a traffic or driving law per se, improper window tinting can have a negative impact on your ability to see. Consider also that tinted glass makes it extremely difficult for other drivers to see what is going on around you. This makes backing out of some traffic spaces or “aiming high” on freeways very difficult.

In Alabama, only the top 6 inches of the windshield can have tinted glass. On standard passenger vehicles tinting must allow 32% of the light through the glass for side and rear windows. For SUVs, trucks, and vans, that 32% limit applies to side front windows. Rear windows can have a darker tint.
